Definition of Enlightenment


What is “enlightenment”, specifically “spiritual enlightenment?: How would I define it? After reading numerous books, listening to many podcasts and doing lots of Google searches, I would define “enlightenment” as follows:

  1. A state of awareness or consciousness

  2. Achieving a profound state of awakening (sudden awareness) and inner peace through a deeper understanding of one's true self and the interconnectedness of all things.

  3. An awakening to the true nature of things, experienced as a shift to pure consciousness. 

  4. “Spiritual” has nothing to do with what you believe but everything to do with your state of consciousness.

Why Enlightenment is Important
