Why include enlightenment?
For me, hiking and spiritual enlightenment (connecting with inner self) go hand in hand. If I believe that the solution to my questions about my future lie within my inner spirit (which I do), there is no better place to connect with my inner self than out in the mountains,
So, throughout my hiking blogs you will find some personal thoughts and references to connection with “the self.” Feel free to ignore these, these are important to my journey. However, if you find them useful, that’s great!
Who am I?
My name is Allan and I live and work in Yosemite National Park. I am 50 yrs old and am an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
2 years ago, I left a 20 year career in engineering to not only get clean, but to figure out who I am and what I want the rest of my time on Earth to look like.
I have learned that spending most of a day, or all day, out in nature, I am able to connect with my inner spirit.
